Hallo,
ich heiße Olaf Mitka
and I’m a Berlin-based 28 year old architect and craftsman. My background in architecture is in competitions, speculative projects, design and execution drawings (LP 1-4) of public and private buildings, renovation and urban planning. Besides that, I also do ceramics, carpentry and other creative activities.
Currently I live in Berlin but my very first home was a small village in southern Poland near Cracow. Many of my earliest memories are of me working with my father in his carpentry workshop and playing with the local clay soil, crafting simple figures that sparked my imagination. As I grew older, these talents and interests turned into a passion of mine that I pursued.
I decided that studying architecture was the best route for me. In 2017 after completing my Bachelor’s degree, I was awarded the SARP (Association of Polish Architects) Scholarship, an award that goes to the best architecture student in Cracow. I then pursued my Master’s degree, during which I also participated in the exchange program at KU Leuven in Ghent. Whilst I was in Belgium, I took part in the Field Station program.
In 2020, I graduated with the highest distinction from the Faculty of Architecture, Cracow University of Technology with accreditation from the Royal Institute of British Architects. While completing my education, I was able to combine my academic and professional experience on construction sites, giving me a hands-on understanding into the building process and construction technology.
For the last years, I have worked in a professional capacity at Huber Staudt Architekten and rundzwei architekten, which has given me the opportunity to develop projects such as the Polizeisentrum in Neubrandenburg, Sportforum am Schlaatz, Fraunhofer WKI, health care buildings, schools and and private investments. I was also part of the competition team, which allowed me to participate in numerous architectural challenges. Previously, I gained experience as intern at anOtherArchitect in Berlin and Studio S in Cracow.
I love to pursue design and art in various forms. I am an extremely visual person, an enthusiast of craftsmanship, experimentation, and creative freedom. In free time I create my own art and have recently rediscovered a passion for clay sculpting.
I passed the TELC Beruf C1 exam, confirming my German language skills. My mother tongue is Polish, I also speak English at C1 level and un poco de español.
Tools that I use regularly in my work include: ArchiCAD, AutoCAD, SketchUP, Revit, Rhino, Lumion, Enscape, Adobe CC… and clay! 😊
Hallo,

(Hello, my name is Olaf Mitka)
My name is Olaf Mitka, and I am a Berlin-based 27 years old architect from Lesser Poland with a background in competitions, speculative projects as well as design and execution drawings (LP 1-3) of renovation, architecture, urban planning and interior design.
Nowadays, I am growing as an architect at huber staudt architekten. Working in a professional environment has given me the opportunity to work on detailed drawings such as the Polizeizentrum in Neubrandenburg as well as participating in numerous architectural competitions, mainly for public buildings (schools, hospitals, nursing homes), with many successes. Previously, I was gaining experience at anOtherArchitect (Berlin) and Studio S (Cracow). I have held roles in the processes from schematic design, diagrams and schemes to master plans, 3d models, interior design, renders and VR presentations. Plenty of times I worked as a manual worker on construction sites, which helped me to understand building processes and construction technologies. During this time of professional experience, I became proficient in research, concept design and construction phases. I also have advanced skills in 3D modeling and visualization.
In 2020 I graduated with the highest distinction at the Faculty of Architecture, Cracow University of Technology, with accreditation from the Royal Institute of British Architects. In 2017, after completing my Bachelor I was awarded the SARP (Association of Polish Architects) scholarship for the best architecture student in Cracow. During my Master studies I participated in the exchange program at KU Leuven in Gent, Belgium. I combine my academic education with professional practice on construction sites and in architectural offices to enhance our societies and have a positive effect on the world.
Beyond work I am a guy who enjoys discovering new forms, materials and textures, as well as tastes by traveling around Europe and cooking unusual recipes – and classic ones, too.
