"Der Hospital" Biberach

The new building of the Biberach nursing and community centre in the hospital quarter links the existing buildings on the campus with each other and creates exciting, easily usable outdoor spaces. The organic form of the building opens up the centre of the campus to the city of Biberach and points to the picturesque view of the steeple of the city parish church of St. Martin. The hospital quarter in Biberach shows an open development structure characterised by intensively used open spaces. Viewed from the bounding streets, the campus “Der Hospital” looks like a spacious park that offers a variety of recreational opportunities to the residents and users of the neighbourhood. The removal of the existing building adjacent to the new ILW building offers a unique opportunity to strengthen the public character of the hospital quarter, which is characterised by a variety of pathways and visual relationships. The compact 4-storey wooden building itself becomes part of the garden with its friendly and warm design.
