Centre for Mental Health

Zentrum für Psychiatrie Calw in Böblingen

About the project

The 4-storey Centre for Mental Health naturally adjoins the new Flugfeldklinikum and, coming from the west via Flugfeldallee, forms a striking city entrance to Parkstadt-West. The Z-shaped building forms an effective shield to the north-west from Flugfeldallee, the A81 motorway and the noisy test track of the Daimler Benz car factory. This creates usable and quiet open spaces for patients and staff, which open up to the park on the lake promenade on the one hand and to the sun to the south on the other. Through the use of materials, yellow-grey brick and wood, the new Centre for Mental Health also seeks a close connection to the somatic subjects of the Flugfeldklinikum.

  • The design proposal was awarded 2nd place.
