Zabłocie business cluster

About the project

The competition was organised by the City of Krakow and the Krakow branch of SARP.

The aim of the proposal was to obtain the best architectural and urban planning solution for the urban project transforming the post-industrial enclave of Krakow’s Zabłocie into a creative and innovative space open to both the local community and the city’s residents, as well as professionals, entrepreneurs, social and economic entities.
The Socio-Economic Innovation Cluster in Zabłocie combines the idea of revitalisation of post-industrial areas with an innovative approach to the function and arrangement of space. As the originators of the investment emphasize, the Socio-Economic Innovation Cluster is to be based on the concept of the so-called Shared Space, i.e. “shared, multifunctional and open space, whose main advantages are its temporariness and flexibility”. The competition entries wanted to find a vision of space that could be freely arranged and adapted to the current needs and ideas of users.

In-situ module production using CNC technology

The cluster is independent in its development process. The units are built in situ using easy-to-process and environmentally friendly materials. Thanks to precise machining on CNC-cutting machines and properly designed connections, the components are press-fitted. The construction process is as simple as possible and the system is flexible. The modules can be personalized according to the needs of new entities emerging in the cluster. Easy assembly and disassembly favours evolution.
